Named as The Republic Of Uganda, this Country is landlocked and located in East Africa, boardered on the East by Kenya, west by the Democratic Republic of Congo, North by Sudan, South west by Rwanda and on the south by Tanzania.
Languages spoken are English as the official language, Ganda (Luganda) and Swahili, Others Bantu and Nilo- Saharan languages.
National Currency used is Uganda Shillings, But USA Dollars accepted most especially in Hotel and Airline industry.
Uganda is known as The Pearl Of Africa and its Tourism industry is enriched with an abundance and variety of wild life. This abundance attracts the biggest percentage of tourists from Europe and North America. Thus large areas have been allocated as wildlife reserves, National Game Parks, Game Reserves Sanctuaries and the Zoo. There are also interesting features such as the large water bodies, water falls, mountainous areas, great forests with unique vegetation and the great cultures of the African people.
The country has got a very pleasant climate. The sun at midday is high in the sky. As it’s located astride the Equator, temperatures are generally high throughout the year except for the highlands that have reduced temperatures due to the altitudes. Temperatures are at times lower than is normal for areas close to the equator. On average, 26C and 16C at night. There are basically two major seasons. The dry season and the wet season.The climate is tropical and generally rainy with two dry seasons (December to February and June to August with 30C). The northeastern part of the country is semiarid but temperatures in some parts can be quite cool due to the country's high altitude, despite its position on the equator. The top of Mount Elgon is often covered with snow. |
